Outgoing US President Donald Trump plans on leaving Washington on the morning Inauguration Day, he had previously planned on leaving the day before.

Next Wednesday will see Joe Biden sworn in as the 46th president of the United States of America.

Trump doesn't plan on attending, he isn't even going to be in the same town according to Reuters news agency reports.

Al Jazeera reported that Trump will be given a departure ceremony to mark the end of his presidency at Joint Base Andrews, however, plans have not been announced.

According to an anonymous source, the event will have all the glitz and glamour of a state visit with a red carpet, colour guard, a military band and 21-gun salute being on the table.

Trump will fly to Palm Beach, Florida, to start his life post-presidency. Besides being the first US president to be impeached twice, he will also be the first president to not attend his successor's inauguration.

He also refused to concede defeat in the elections, again the first president to do so.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that President Donald Trump is turning on his allies, he is upset with his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to the extent that the has given the instruction that he is not to be paid.

The New York Times reported that his relationship with Guliani has deteriorated. His personal lawyer was one of his close aides who encouraged Trump to believe in friend conspiracy theories about fraud claims in the election.

According to the Washing Post Guiliani was charging Donald Trump $20 000 (R300 000) a day for his services while he jetted across the country to challenge the election results.

In other news, Macaulay Culkin has shown his support to the online petition calling for the removal of Donald Trump's scene in Home Alone 2.

Macaulay played the role of a naughty boy called Kevin McCallister in the 1992 Christmas comedy. The petition calls for the outgoing US president's cameo appearance to be digitally replaced by Culkin, 40.

In the movie, a young Macaulay runs into Trump at the Plaza Hotel in New York City and asks him for directions to the lobby. Macaulay wants Trump to be edited out of the film following last week's chaos at the Capitol.
