Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Medikal, 6 Others Named In Watsup TV's 100 Top African Artistes List

- WatsUp TV and Avance Media have released their list of Top 100 African musicians

- The list features 10 Ghanaian musicians, including Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie

- Notable artistes like Samini and Wendy Shay are missing from the list

Ghana-based Pan-African entertainment TV channel WatsUp TV and Avance Media have announced their list of the Top 100 African Musicians for 2021.

The list which is the first of such a list to be released by the WatsUp TV and their partners features music artistes from 26 countries across the continent.

Nigeria leads with 26 artistes followed by Ghana with 10, Cote D’Ivoire with seven, and South Africa with six musicians.

Ghana's contingent is made up of Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Medikal, and Kuami Eugene, Others include King Promise, KiDi, Kwesi Arthur, R2Bees, and Sista Afia who is the only female.

Interestingly, the likes of Samini and Wendy Shay who recently claimed to be the 1KING and 1QUEEN of Ghana music were missing on the list.

The list features 18 females, 9 groups, and 73 males with Nigerian act Rema being the youngest at age 20 and Egypt's Mohammed Mounir being the oldest at age 66.

Other big African artistes named on the list include Angelique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Cassper Nyovest, Khaligrapgh Jones, and many other artistes who continue to blaze the trail for African music.

Speaking on the list, CEO of WatsUp TV, ABD Traore stated that this annual list is focused on throwing the spotlight on African musicians with the highest impact in the industry.

He noted that the list will also pay attention to their expedient career success, brand value, digital impact, and continental outlook.

According to ABD Traore, the publication of the list precedes several engagements honourees will be involved in to celebrate their work and the crafts they have gifted the continent.
