One person confirmed dead after police shot into a crowd at Adwumakaase-Kese in Ashanti Region

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that one of the two persons in critical condition following the clash between police and some residents of Adwumakaase-Kese in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region has died.
The 52-year-old, Alexander Owusu, died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Friday where he was receiving treatment.

He was reportedly hit by a bullet when an Adwumakaase-Kese resident tried seizing a service rifle belonging to an officer at the scene, sources close to the development told YEN.com.gh.

The clash followed the arrest of one of the residents after they stopped the set up of a signpost by a chief from Bomfa, a town in the District.
The mounting of the signpost followed a boundary dispute between the two towns.
The police reportedly shot into the crowd in the heat of the kerfuffle, injuring two people, one of whom was confirmed dead on Friday, February 26, 2021.
“The chiefs of the town have spoken to the youth to calm down, while they try to address the concerns. So at the moment, everything is calm,” Krontihene for the Adwumakaase-Kesse community, Nana Yeboah Mensah said.
In a separate development, news reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that 16 people lost their lives in an accident at Akyem Asafo on the Accra-Kumasi highway.
It was reported that several others have sustained various degrees of injuries.
The fatality recorded was from both buses as 13 males and 3 females died on the spot.
The accident occurred around 1:30 am on Friday, February 26, after two KIA grand buses collided head-on.
The driver of one of the KIA grand buses with registration number GT 5628-18 was one of the casualties recorded, the police confirmed.
Those who sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to the Suhum government hospital.
According to the report from the police, the driver of one of the KIA grand buses with registration number GT 5628-18 made an unsafe overtaking without looking out for traffic on the other side.
His careless action led him to crash head-on with another KIA grand bus with registration number GE 5510-15, killing the driver on the spot.
The bodies of all 16 deceased have been deposited at the Suhum government hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
In other news, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that three white people believed to be foreigners had died in a fatal accident.
The unfortunate incident occurred on the Cape Coast - Winneba Highway at Gomoa Okyereko in the Central region.
An eyewitness said the three foreigners, a man, and two women were aboard a Toyota Prado with registration GN 3966-17.
