Kaneshie police on red alert against illegal Okada riders

- The activity of motorbike riders at Kaneshie are now under strict scrutiny

- The Kaneshie police has so far confiscated tens of unregistered motorbikes

- The raid follows the increase of robbers around the municipality

As part of efforts to clamp down on activities of criminals, especially robbers within Kaneshie and its environs, the Kaneshie Police have embarked on an exercise targeted at unregistered motorbikes and Okada activities within the division.

The exercise lasted for 5 hours and in all sixty motorbikes have been impounded and are being processed for various offences.

Some of them were arrested for parking and soliciting for passengers, riding without helmets, riding without license, some without insurance and road worthy certificates among others.

Shooting of robber at Awudome Cemetery

Police officials at the Kaneshie municipality have shot dead an armed robber at the Awudome Cemetery.

The robber is said to have stabbed and robbed a passer-by robbing him of this phone and cash of 250 cedis. A police report recounting the incident shows the victim running to the nearby police post for assistance but there was no trace of them after the police combed nearby bushes.

The robbers strategized and laid ambush until they resurfaced from the cemetery again in an attempt to rob another target.

“One of the robbers believed to be in his early 20s was shot but the other managed to escape. He was rushed to the police hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead. Body deposited at mortuary for identification and autopsy,” the police revealed.
