Bulldog: Shatta Wale's Manager Reacts To Burna Boy And Wizkid Grammy Wins
Shatta Wale's manager Bulldog, known in private life as Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, has waded into the talk about Grammy Award wins for Burna Boy and Wizkid.
Burna Boy and Wizkid won awards at the 63rd Grammy Awards held on Sunday, March 14, 2021.
While Wizkid's feature on Beyonce's Brown Skin Girl won the music video award, Burna Boy won the best global album with his Twice As Tall.
Following the historic wins for the Nigerian artistes, there have been lots of trolling for Ghanaian artistes on social media.
Sharing his thoughts on the development, Bulldog has sought to show the difference between Nigeria and Ghana.
For him, the main ingredient missing in Ghana's quest for international recognition for its musicians is funding.
According to Bulldog, while the systems in Nigeria help artistes to rise by opening doors for them, the system frustrates people who want to fund the arts in Ghana.
"In Nigeria they rally round the flag — in Ghana we wipe the floor with it. In Nigeria they open doors — in Ghana we shut them.
"Government won’t make a deliberate attempt to fund the arts — when private companies do — government will frustrate and shut them down eventually.
"In Nigeria they make billionaires on purpose — in Ghana, our leaders will purposely unmake millionaires over trivialities such as punani.
"Until we make a systemic attempt — our mentions on the international front remains sporadic. Going global is a national conversation — let’s rise above the individual discussions. GH abounds with talents — funding is the PLUG- #InHisPresence #sikanhyiraadomaseda."
