Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie a.k.a. Sir John is set to be buried on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

The burial and final funeral rites will be held in Sir John's hometown of Sakra Wonoo in the Ashanti region.

Ahead of the burial, Sir John's mortal remains have been transported to his hometown. His body was conveyed in a helicopter to Sakra Wonoo.

In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, the helicopter carrying Sir John's body is seen hovering over the town.

Moments after the helicopter landed, a long convoy of vehicles including a hearse went to pick the casket containing Sir John's remains.

When the convoy arrived at Sir John's family house, there were loads of mourners waiting in front of the house. As previously reported by YEN.com.gh, many of the mourners were left in tears.

Some men including military personnel carried the casket into the house.

Ghanaians react

The video of Sir John's remains being carried in a helicopter has stirred many reactions on social media.

bossmcofficial said:

"Next time before you shout 4more make sure when you also die they will airlift you in aircraft to your village. Others that reportedly or allegedly died of covid like him were buried like fowls. Rest In Peace to him tho ."

laryeaeuodia said:

"Eeiiiii Ghana... Hmmmm and there buried people that has covid as if they had no family. Hmmmm..its sad"

Sir John's son weeps upon seeing the casket

Among the many sad scenes after the arrival of Sir John's remains was when the son of the politician shed tears over upon seeing the casket.

In a video, the young man was seen standing with his arms folded as he watched on while some people brought out his dad's coffin from the hearse.
