Ghanaian artiste, Sarkodie deserves praise for seeking the permission of George Darko before interpolating popular song, Odo Colour on his new song, Coachella, featuring Kwesi Arthur.

Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, an entertainment analyst said this whilst speaking as a panelist on Entertainment Review on Peace 104.3 FM.

In the past few months, a number of artistes have been under fire for sampling or interpolating songs by other people without their consent. In their defense, they claimed to do that to keep the legacy of old artistes alive.

"In an era where young artistes don't respect the legends and their copyright, he has stuck to the core business of copyright-related matters. And he has to be praised for it," Asamoah-Baidoo said.

"I am confident he has gone through all the process. To actually list George Darko as a writer, he has done well, and so we should praise him."

In a previous interview on TV3, Sarkodie shot down suggestions that he might be cited for copyright infringement because of the interpolation on his song. He shared that he sought legal authorization to sample the song.

He disclosed that he had a conversation George Darko and sought his permission to use his song.
