15 rich, powerful, yet single Ghanaian female celebrities

In the last couple of years, there has been a flurry of weddings involving Ghanaian female celebrities.

In 2018, for instance, talented singer Becca got married. Earlier, Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson hooked up with Jamie Roberts, and now they have a daughter together. The two female celebrities made their moves after years of pressure from fans for them to get married.

In Ghana, marriage is a very big deal. From age 25, many women across country are under pressure from their family and friends to get married. The popular perception is that if the women do not get married "on time", they may find themselves unattractive to men when they grow older.

However, some Ghanaian female celebrities still do not feel or do not care about this pressure. They are rich, famous and powerful. They are role models for thousands of Ghanaians, especially girls, across the country. But these women have something that sets them apart from other women of their stature: their singleness.

For these powerful women, however, being single is a choice.

It is better as a celebrity to keep your love affair away from the public because you can never tell who is working against you,” she said.

She told Accra-based Joy FM in 2016 that she had a boyfriend. “I like someone very much and I’m happy," she said, adding: “When you are really crazy about someone, you find yourself thinking about them more, you go the extra mile. It turns to be a little crazy sometimes. I love hard so maybe I’ve done some really crazy, stupid things.”
