Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the 14th Asantehemaa and had served since 2017 before she died in August 2025.
The Asante matriarch played a crucial role in regulating the legitimacy of successors to the Golden Stool and ensuring adherence to customs and traditions.
Her influence extended to matters of succession, advising the Asantehene, and even having the power to depose him in certain circumstances.
Her funeral was scheduled from September 15 to 18, drawing high-profile guests, including Ghana's president, John Dramani Mahama, to Kumasi to pay their last respects to the late Asantehemaa.

Scores of entertainers and celebrities, including Nana Ama McBrown and Lil Win, were spotted at the funeral held at Otumfuo Osei Tutu's Manhyia Palace.
Sarkodie, who was not present, has expressed his apologies for not attending, citing unforeseen circumstances as his reason.
"Sadly, we weren’t able to make it to Kumasi today as planned due to unforeseen circumstances - but we still mourn our queen. Our rich culture was beautifully displayed. ❤️ Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III 🕊️," he said.
However, the rapper will be in the Ghanaian city in about a week to host his annual Rapperholic Concert.
This will be the first time the experience, which has occurred in Accra for the past ten years and over, is happening in Kumasi.
Medikal, Kweku Smoke, Strongman and OlivetheBoy have already been announced as headliners for the show.
Ghanaians react to Sarkodie's apology about Asantehemaa

"Sometimes in life things happen beyond your control. He was with them in spirit. Peace."
Derrick Abrokwa remarked:
"You lived off Asanteman your entire life.... the Twi language is what made you who you are, so to me, this excuse will not hold."
Anthony Aboagye commented:
"Sometimes I wonder why people defend the indefensible. As a die-hard Sarkodie fan, I'm excited for his show on the 27th. However, I'm disappointed that he didn't show up to the funeral. If he's unwell, his wife or management team could have represented him. It seems like he's making excuses. If the event were in Accra, he'd likely be there. I'm calling him out - music is important, but so is commitment. I was looking forward to seeing him promote his upcoming show, which would have been a great opportunity."
