Former actor and now politician John Dumelo melted the hearts of many when he shared a video of the bags of rice he donated to his constituents in Ayawaso West Wuogon to commemorate the Homowo festival.

Dumelo donates to his constituents

Dumelo on Instagram shared a touching video of him visiting the homes of his constituents to gift them bags of rice.

In the video, the residents were elated to see the former actor and to welcome him into their homes. Some hugged him, shook hands and expressed their excitement in seeing him.

In the caption of the Instagram post, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture of the Republic of Ghana mentioned that he went around his constituency to present them with bags of rice to commemorate the Homowo festival.

Sharing details of the donation drive, he noted that it took place in the evening on September 11, 2025. He noted that he wanted to make the Homowo celebrations special by giving them goodies since they were celebrating that weekend.

In the spirit of Homowo, I spent yesterday evening in Bawaleshie sharing rice and other goodies to the GA community as they celebrate their Homowo festival this weekend. #idey4u.

Dumelo secures internship opportunities constituents

YEN.com.gh reported that with many university students currently on long vacation and seeking internship opportunities, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, stepped in to support.

The MP announced that he secured internship placements for tertiary students within his constituency, giving them the chance to gain practical experience during the break.

His announcement quickly drew praise online, as social media users commended the initiative and lauded him for creating opportunities for the youth.
