The new hair transformation drew a notable reaction from teammate Lamine Yamal.

Gavi had vowed before the tournament: "I will dye my hair pink if I win the World Cup."

He was not alone in making such pledges.

Teammate Marc Cucurella promised a tattoo of head coach Luis de la Fuente's face, Ferran Torres promised to shave his head bald, Pedri promised to dye his hair blonde, and Lamine Yamal himself promised to grow a beard for three weeks while giving away 100 headphones.

Spain went on to defeat Argentina in the World Cup final, setting the stage for the players to make good on their word.

Gavi finally fulfils his pink hair promise

Gavi took his time delivering on the pledge, responding to fans' reminders with humorous memes rather than confirming a date, while his girlfriend Ana publicly nudged him too, leaving haircut and pink-maned unicorn emojis on their holiday photos.

He has now finally followed through, sharing the completed transformation on his verified Instagram account. The post has since drawn 1.9 million likes.

Fans reacted almost instantly, with football account 433 commenting: "He actually did it 🤣👏" drawing 19,427 likes.

Lamine Yamal himself weighed in with a string of shocked-face emojis, a reaction that has since pulled in 136,237 likes of its own, making it one of the most engaged comments on the post.

Not everyone was fully convinced by the shade, though.

On X, an account joked about the gap between expectation and reality, captioning a side-by-side comparison image:

Cucurella fulfils his own World Cup promise

Gavi was not the first of his Spain teammates to honour a World Cup pledge.

Marc Cucurella fulfilled his own promise shortly after the tournament win, getting a tattoo of head coach Luis de la Fuente's face on his arm.

His swift follow-through set the tone for the rest of the squad, with fans keeping close track of which players had delivered and which, like Gavi, were taking their time.

Bukayo Saka's hair transformation resurfaces

According to an earlier report by YEN.com.gh, an old photo of Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka's dramatic new haircut resurfaced online, showing him swapping his signature curls for a much shorter buzz cut.

The transformation sparked comparisons to Liverpool legend Sadio Mane and reignited fresh reactions from fans months after he first debuted the look.
