Ariana Grande Fires Back at Trump Team Over Use of Her Song in Video: “Never use my music again”

  • Ariana Grande publicly objected after Team Trump used her song in a TikTok video promoting a policy on transgender athletes
  • The singer commented directly on the post, telling the team never to use her music again and challenging the message in the clip
  • The incident marks the second time in 2025 that Grande has clashed with the Trump administration over unauthorised use of her songs

Ariana Grande has publicly demanded that Donald Trump's campaign team stop using her music after the official Team Trump TikTok account featured one of her songs in a video promoting the administration's stance on transgender athletes.

The video, posted on Thursday, August 20, showed Trump walking to a podium at a rally while text advocating the administration's position on transgender participation in women's sports appeared on screen.

The audio track was Grande's hit "We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)."

Grande responds directly in the comments

The singer addressed the post head-on, leaving a comment that read:

"Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false."

The Team Trump video included a statement asserting that men should not have babies or compete in women's sports, a message Grande clearly distanced herself from through her public response.

A pattern of objections

This is not the first time Grande has taken issue with the Trump administration's use of her catalogue.

In June, the White House shared a TikTok video set to her song "Bye" as part of content promoting immigration enforcement efforts.

Grande responded by condemning the pairing of her music with those policies, and the song was subsequently muted on the video.

Her repeated objections place her among many prominent artists who have taken similar stands.

Sabrina Carpenter, Katy Perry, SZA, Adele, Neil Young, Rihanna, Céline Dion, ABBA and Elton John are among other musicians who have previously objected to their music being used by Trump or his team without their consent.

Grande's latest statement makes her position unambiguous: she does not want her songs linked to political messaging from the Trump camp, and she has now taken that stance publicly on more than one occasion.

Trump administration wins court approval to end TPS

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported on a recent federal judge's ruling in Boston that permits the Trump administration to terminate Temporary Protected Status for Somali nationals in the United States.

This decision impacts approximately 2,471 individuals currently protected under TPS, raising significant concerns about their future and potential deportation.

The ruling follows a Supreme Court decision that limits lower courts' ability to challenge administration policies, a move that many believe underscores a troubling pattern of bias against Somali nationals.
