In a statement issued on Friday, September 6, 2025, MultiChoice indicated that it was engaging with the Minister so that they could reach a solution that would satisfy all parties.
However, MultiChoice denied the Minister’s claim that it has agreed to reduce the prices of DStv services in Ghana.
“We have noted the statement made by the Minister for Communications Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George.”
“We continue to engage with the Minister in a bid to find an amicable solution that is beneficial for all parties involved but does not jeopardise the viability of the DStv service,” it added.
“We will fully participate in the established Working Committee. However, we wish to clarify that MultiChoice Group has not agreed to a price reduction,” the statement concluded.

This came after a standoff between the ministry and Multichoice over a proposed 30% cut in subscription fees.
“Let us be clear—they have finally accepted that there will be a reduction, and they want us to discuss the level of reduction. I believe that as a minister, we do not need 30 days." The Minister indicated that he expects a decision to be arrived at in 14 days.
The Minister revealed that MultiChoice Ghana has been facing a GH¢10,000 daily fine since August 14, 2025, and a 30-day suspension notice effective August 7, 2025, for non-compliance with pricing concerns.
To expedite the process, a committee comprising representatives from the Ministry, the National Communications Authority (NCA), MultiChoice Ghana, and MultiChoice Africa has been established, with the Minister personally chairing it.
The joint committee with MultiChoice Ghana to decide on a reduction in DStv subscription prices was established at a press conference on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Sam George said he was not ready for the back and forth and would just do as he had said.
