Accra, Ghana – 31 July 2026 — Ghana's football history took centre stage on Friday evening as leading home appliance brand BRÜHM brought together football legends, government officials, business leaders and sports stakeholders for the grand finale of its BRÜHM Honours Legends campaign—an initiative dedicated to celebrating the country's football heroes while they are still alive to receive the nation's gratitude.

Held at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, the elegant dinner honoured five of Ghana's most revered football legends—Rev. Osei Kofi, Ibrahim Sunday, Mohammed Ahmed "Polo", Nii Odartey Lamptey and Daniel Quaye—whose achievements span some of the most defining eras in Ghana's football history. Collectively, their accomplishments include Africa Cup of Nations triumphs, continental club success, youth world championship glory and FIFA World Cup representation, inspiring generations of Ghanaians at home and abroad.

The event marked the culmination of the nationwide BRÜHM Honours Legends campaign, which combined documentary storytelling, digital engagement and public conversations to preserve the stories of Ghana's football pioneers while reconnecting younger generations with the personalities behind the nation's greatest sporting moments. In recognition of their outstanding contributions to Ghanaian football, each legend received a commemorative citation, a BRÜHM television and a BRÜHM refrigerator.

The ceremony attracted an impressive gathering of distinguished guests, including Shivesh Srivastava, General Manager and Business Head of Somotex Ghana Limited; Roshanak Taheri, Head of Marketing, BRÜHM Global; Awurakua Antwi, Marketing Manager for BRÜHM Ghana and Somotex Ghana Limited; Veronica Commey, Deputy Director-General of the National Sports Authority; representatives of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation; Dr. Joseph Obeng, former President of the Ghana Union of Traders' Associations (GUTA) and Member of the Governing Council of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM); distinguished Somotex business partners; and invited guests from Ghana's corporate and sporting communities.

Guests were treated to documentary screenings celebrating each legend's remarkable journey, cultural performances by the Ayital Cultural Agency and a moving musical serenade by Rama Black. The evening concluded with standing ovations and heartfelt tributes that reflected the profound impact the honourees have had on Ghana's sporting identity.

Speaking at the event, Roshanak Taheri, Head of Marketing, BRÜHM Global, said the campaign was intentionally designed to move beyond conventional sports marketing by celebrating the people whose sacrifices laid the foundation for Ghana's football success.

"Our campaign was never really about an ending. It was about remembering where something began."

She explained that while many football campaigns focus on tournaments and promotions, BRÜHM chose instead to celebrate the stories behind the game and the memories shared by millions of families.

"We do not want our relationship with consumers to begin and end with an appliance sitting in someone's home. We want to build a brand that understands the people who live in those homes—what they celebrate, what they are proud of, what they remember and what brings families together."

Adding a local perspective, Awurakua Antwi, Marketing Manager for BRÜHM Ghana and Somotex Ghana Limited, said the initiative reflects the brand's longstanding relationship with Ghanaian families.

"For decades, BRÜHM has been part of Ghanaian homes, where families have gathered around their televisions to celebrate victories, relive unforgettable matches and create memories that last a lifetime. BRÜHM Honours Legends is our way of celebrating the heroes behind those memories and preserving their stories for generations yet to come."

Delivering the keynote goodwill message, Veronica Commey, Deputy Director-General of the National Sports Authority, praised BRÜHM for recognising sporting heroes during their lifetime.

"As someone who believes strongly in giving people their flowers while they can still smell them, I commend BRÜHM for making this possible."

She encouraged more organisations to emulate the initiative, describing it as a meaningful contribution to preserving Ghana's football heritage and inspiring future generations.

The BRÜHM Honours Legends campaign demonstrates the brand's belief that football is more than a sport—it is a shared national experience that has united families, communities and generations. By documenting and celebrating the lives of Ghana's football icons, BRÜHM hopes to contribute to preserving an important chapter of the nation's sporting and cultural heritage.

As the campaign concludes, its message extends beyond football: nations grow stronger when they honour the people whose sacrifices shaped their future. For BRÜHM, the initiative reflects a commitment not only to providing trusted home appliances, but also to celebrating the memories, traditions and stories that make every home meaningful.
