Aware of the imminent danger, he asked for a machete from his petrified wife who had been watching from a distance.

"The lion bit my hands and legs and also tore my back and ribs. My wife was walking after me when she ran ahead. It then attacked me and fell me down. I called my wife and asked her to help. She came with a machete and the lion turned on her," the man said.

The woman told Citizen TV that she hit the lion with the machete, and in retaliation, it ran and grabbed her legs.

She was injured in the arms and limbs before her equally wounded husband stood from the ground to rescue her.
