Manchester United's 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at home remains one of their worst defeats this season.
Bruno Fernandes was shown a straight red card in that game, which was later rescinded, but the performance was forgettable.
On Friday, Erik ten Hag made a controversial comment about the red card that left the fans with a bad taste.
The North London club was dominant before and after the red card on September 29. Goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke saw them register a 3-0 win.
It was the club's second-worst home defeat this season, following another 3-0 loss to bitter rivals Liverpool on September 1.
What did Erik ten Hag say?
During his press conference after Man United's draw against Fenerbahce, the Dutchman said he has chosen to "deny" and "ignore" the game because of the red card shown to Fernandes.
"I deny that game, ignore that game against Spurs because we were downsized to 10 with a 1-0 losing position ... And then the red card was overturned. So I totally ignore that game," Ten Hag said via ESPN.
Fernandes' red card was overturned on October 1 after an appeal. Fans on social media were not happy with these comments from their under-fire manager.
