Everything you need to know about Ghana soldiers' salary

They keep us safe, they are the nation's pride, but how much do soldiers earn? This is a question that most Ghanaians ask, especially when we see them marching and displaying their shooting skills. The Forces Pay Regiment processes the soldiers' salaries.

Ghana soldiers' salary

The force is in charge of accounting of the money received by the Government. The salary of Ghana soldiers is not fixed since they are subject to change depending on the budget. Recently, the Ghana’s soldiers monthly salary was increased by the President after an annual meeting held in Burma Camp in 2017.

The Ghana soldier’s salary is prone to annual review. Although the salary of Ghana soldiers is not made available to the public by the Government and the Forces Pay Regiment, we have prepared a list of the Ghana soldiers monthly salary in order of ranks in the Armed Forces, in the order of the highest paid soldiers to the least paid soldiers.

Ghana soldiers' salary

Army General

They are the most senior officers in the army. They are also the most paid army officers depending on their number of years in service. Their paygrade falls under 0-10. They are in charge of all operations that fall within their areas. They make all decisions regarding any mission and how it will be carried out. For you to attain this rank, you must have at least 20 years’ experience in the Armed forces.

Lieutenant General

They are the second most paid senior officers in the Ghana armed forces. They fall under the Generals with a pay-grade of 0-9. They are also mandated to serve as commanders of higher commands in the army. Most people consider it a terminal job since they hold on to the job as long as the rank requires their services. After sometime, they are promoted to the rank of General.

Ghana soldiers' salary

Major General

They are the most permanent soldiers in the army compared to other counterparts above them who hold temporal jobs as required by the ranks. They fall under the pay grade 0-8. They are usually at the front row of tactical operations. They are also in charge of organized battles and missions. They are normally nominated by the President of Ghana.

Brigadier General

They fall under the pay-grade 0-7. They are second in command of a battalion of close to 10,000 soldiers. They are in charge of planning and organizing activities in the army. They can also act as commanders depending on their specialty.

Ghana soldiers' salary

Colonel

They fall under the pay-grade 0-6. They are in charge of a brigade sized unit consisting of 3000 soldiers. They are appointed by the Secretary of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Major

The fall under the pay-grade 0-5. It is the most junior rank in charge of a brigade sized unit consisting of 300 to 1000 soldiers.

Ghana soldiers' salary

Captain

They fall under the paygrade below 5. They are in charge of combat and administrative roles in the army. They also have combat teaching sessions with the soldiers. They are in charge of a unit of 100 to 200 soldiers.

Infantry Army Salary

They fall under the paygrade 0-4. They are in charge of stabilizing and providing tactical support to the army under different human, climatic and geographical areas. They are the back bone of stabilizing, capacity building and warfighting tasks in the army.
