Celebrated Ghanaian gospel musician, Hannah Marfo, has disclosed that music made her famous but has left her impoverished.
According to the musician, she recorded and released a number of hit songs, but that did not transform her life financially.
The popular musician who is currently struggling to raise GH¢43,000 for her 17-year-old daughter to undergo surgery has appealed to the public for support.
Hannah Marfo speaking recently to Joy Prime, as monitored by Mynewsgh.com, stated that she enjoyed fame at the peak of her career, but was still living a broke life with her family.
The gospel singer who earlier pleaded to the general public to help her raise GH¢43,000 for the treatment of her ailing daughter, lamented her present condition after many years in her music career.
Hannah Marfo revealed that the gospel industry has not helped her in any way as music did not give her enough financial returns.
The singer noted that she saw her music career as service to God, therefore she did not really concentrate on the business aspect of it.
The 'Akristofoo adooso' hitmaker said even though she is a registered member of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), the money she receives from the organization is nothing to be proud of it.
The gospel singer added that, she has learnt a great lesson and she is ever ready to help industry players change the current ways of doing things in the gospel music industry.
