At the age of 16, he was appointed by Magnus Pehrsson, who was on a scouting trip in Africa in preparation of being the manager to be part of Djurgardens IF. Magnus secured transfer rights to Europe for Daniel until he turned 18 years.
When Ghana’s under-20 team won against Nigeria in 2012, Amartey increased his popularity and qualified for more national games. The young footballer had a good season with the Djurgardens IF in 2013.
