Infinix Hot 9 specs

Additionally, it comes with features such as a fingerprint sensor and dual SIM support.
Hardware
What are the top features of the Infinix Hot 9? What makes this phone stand out? Here is a look at the hardware that makes this phone one of the best in its range:
Design
Infinix Hot 9 sports the latest punch-hole design. The selfie camera hole is located at the top left corner. Near the camera hole, at the top bezel, is the selfie flash, which remains somewhat hidden when not in use. The flash also doubles as a notification LED and a flashlight.
There are no buttons or ports at the top panel. On the bottom panel, you will find the 3.5mm headphone jack, a noise-cancelling mic, USB mini port, and a speaker. The right side panel holds the volume up and down keys and the power button. Finally, the left panel holds the sim tray and the Micro SD card slot.

On the back panel, you will four vertically stacked cameras, and a triple LED flash next to them. It is made of plastic but comes with a sturdy build. It also features a stylish glossy gradient, which gives it a metallic appearance. The phone is available in four colour options: Midnight Black, Violet, Ocean Wave, and Quetzal Cyan.
Display
The Infinix Hot 9 comes with an IPS, LCD, HD+ display with a 720 * 1600 MP resolution. This is similar to several other entry-level smartphones at the same price range.
While not overly impressive, the display is decent for watching videos, playing games, and other media consumption needs. The brightness levels are also satisfactory, and you won't have a problem using the smartphone indoors or outdoors. One thing you will love about the display is the punch hole design, which gives you unobstructed viewing experience.
Like with most mid-range smartphones, the Infinix Hot 9 screen is not water or splash-proof. It can also break or crack easily with impact. Fortunately, you can protect your screen with a tempered or liquid screen protectors, which are readily available.
Processor, storage & performance
Infinix Hot 9 comes with an entry-level MediaTek Helio A25 processor chip. It is an octa-core chip with four 1.5 GHz and four 1.8 GHz CPUs. For the RAM and storage, it comes with several variances: 2GB/32GB, 3GB/32GB, 3 GB/64GB, 4BG/64GB, and 4GB/128GB. The storage memory is expandable, with a MicroSDXC slot that supports up to 256 GB.
Performance-wise, Infinix Hot 9 is decent, just like what you would expect from other mid-range smartphones in the same price segment. There is also no considerable difference with the previous Hot 9 model; they both sport the same processor chipset.

Performance when using regular apps is okay. You will also have no problem with several gaming apps, thanks to the extra boost from the PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The smartphone even has a gaming mode, which provides you with uninterrupted gaming experience.
Unfortunately, the processor chipset is not designed for intensive tasks. Therefore, processor-intensive apps or games can cause lags, a spike in device temperature, and faster depletion of the battery.
Battery
Hot 9 model from Infinix comes with a 5,000 mAh battery, which is impressive for a mid-range budget phone. The battery can consistently deliver a day or more on a single charge (2 days if you are not a heavy user).
The phone does not sport a USB Type C port, making the charging features pretty ordinary. There is no wireless charging, but it comes with a 10 MW charger that offers a relatively faster charging. However, it still takes about 3 hours or more to charge fully.
Speaker & call quality
Infinix Hot 9 comes with DTS sound enhancement technology, which delivers clear, rich sound. The audio quality is decent with the on-call speaker or when listening to music and watching videos through the speaker.
When using your earphones, DTS offers an excellent, immersive sound experience. However, at volumes that are too high, the sound quality deteriorates.
Software
What powers Infinix Hot 9? Is the camera any good? Here is a look at the software powering the smartphone and other cool features it comes with:
OS & features
Infinix Hot 9 is powered by Android 10, the latest Android OS. It offers you access to a range of impressive features such as smart reply in all messaging apps, a dark theme, adaptive battery performance, improved privacy settings, and more.

The phone also makes use of the XOS 6.0 operating system, which delivers faster and more efficient features. Among the unique features that you can enjoy in Hot 9 include the YoParty music sharing app. The phone also sports a DTS sound enhancement app for more sound customization.
Security-wise, the Hot 9 makes use of added biometric security in the form of fingerprint and face ID unlock. The fingerprint unlock uses the fingerprint sensor at the back panel that is fast and responsive. The Face unlock uses the 8 MP front (selfie) camera.
As for upgrades, Android 10 and XOS 6.0 are the latest versions. However, once newer versions are rolled out, users can easily upgrade to them by updating the software.
Camera, video, and image quality
Infinix Hot 9 comes with a quad-camera set up. You have a 13 MP rear camera (or 16 MP with 64 GB and 128 GB variances). Then there is a 2 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. Finally, you have a QVGA low light sensor. A triple LED flash supports cameras to ensure that you take excellent pictures, even in poor conditions. The front camera is an 8 MP one, also sporting an LED flash.
The Hot 9's image quality on both front and rear cameras decent. The camera app also offers basic features such as Beauty, Bokeh, AR Shot, Macro, HDR, AI Cam, and Panorama. Therefore, you should not expect too much from it. Therefore, as long as you are not looking to purchase it for professional photography, you should be okay.

Daylight photos are decent when you have ample light. The macro sensor and depth sensor also provides okay macro and bokeh shots, but you might have some noise in the images. As for night time photos (or those taken in low light), the Hot 9 does not have a dedicated low-light sensor. Instead, the phone uses AI settings, which might fail from time to time. Therefore, images are likely to be grainy, especially on zoom.
Reviews
There are several Infinix Hot 9 reviews on various online platforms, and they have been mostly positive. Users like the phone for its advanced features on a mid-range budget price, latest Android operating system, and superior design. The high capacity battery is also popular amongst users. However, some users have had misgivings, especially with the average camera and image quality.
Verdict
Is Infinix Hot 9 worth a buy? Looking at the features, they are advanced for a budget phone. On the other hand, some are very basic (camera and processor) compared to other rivals. For example, other similar models sport more premium chipsets such as the Helio P22. Some rival's camera set up are also more impressive, for example, 48 MP rear and 16 MP selfie camera.
Compared with other Infinix models in the Hot 9 series, the differences are also not that great. For example, the only considerable difference between Hot 9 and Hot 8 is in the OS and a slight improvement in the chipset.
What about Hot 9 Play? What is the difference between Infinix Hot 9 and Hot 9 Play? Hot 9 does better in the camera and OS aspect, but Hot 9 Play outdoes it in the performance (with 2 processor chipsets – quad-core and octa-core -, and two GPUs)
That being said, it is still an impressive mid-range budget phone. And with the price of Infinix Hot 9 in Ghana starting as low as 625 Cedis, it is a worthy purchase for normal daily usage.
Yen.com.gh on 23rd July 2020 reported that Ghanaians are falling victim to goons who sell fake objects as phones at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle. In a video that was widely circulated on social media, an unsuspecting man was sold an object that looked like a stone or soap instead of a phone.
Upon luring an unsuspecting buyer, the goons will show the buyer a real phone only to exchange it with the object after receiving the payment. This video comes after reports from Ghanaians who have been conned before through the same methods surfaced online in the past few months.
