A Ghanaian on Facebook by the name Komlan N'soukpoe has predicted that John Dramani Mahama will recapture the presidency for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 presidential elections.
The hierarchy of the NDC and its grassroots is under intense pressure to ensure that the former president leads the party into the 2024 elections.
“JM will lead Ghana again before I will die,” N'soukpoe stated in a Facebook post sighted by YEN.com.gh. “He is not the old thief and corrupt man you are calling Nana,” he added.
N'soukpoe’s prophesy comes on the back of campaigns against the candidature of Mahama in 2024 by a leading member of the NDC, who warned that it will be dangerous to present the former president as the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 elections.

According to Stephen Ashitey Adjei, the umbrella fraternity needs a marketable candidate, not one that had been rejected in the 2016 and 2020 elections.
"We must re-examine our product for the electoral market and present a new product,” the Tema East Constituency member told Ghana News Agency.
He said the party is starkly divided under the leadership of the former president, saying “no party can win elections in Ghana with a divided front fighting against themselves.”

According to Dr. Osei Bonsu, the former president can only recapture the presidency for the NDC with a new running mate who identifies with the grassroots of the party and can sell the party to the general public.
“…If NDC insists [on] choosing her as a running mate for Mahama, it would affect their future chances,” he stated in an interview monitored by YEN.com.gh on Onua FM.
Meanwhile, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) predicted that the NDC will win the 2024 presidential elections but needs a new candidate to do that.
