A Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has sentenced a 35-year-old man, Yaw Gyamfi, to 15 years in prison for impersonation.
The Bekwai Circuit Court gave Gyamfi the 15-year jail term for impersonating a military officer to defraud two people including one chief identified as Nana Kwarteng Ababio II of GHc15,000 to enlist his four children into the army.
According to a report filed by Starr News, the convict who is a driver also took GHc1,300 from one Abena Nyarko to facilitate her recruitment into the military.
Charged with “defrauding by false pretense,” Gyamfi pleaded guilty to the charges, hence his sentencing.
A military t-shirt was retrieved from his bag when he was arrested.
Still, on crime, the Hohoe Circuit Court jailed a 31-year-old fuel station supervisor for stealing.
The court handed Yusif Abubakar 15 years jail term for stealing Ghs139,118 belonging to his employer.
A former fuel station supervisor of the Hohoe branch of Star Oil Company, Abubakar told investigators that he used the money for sports betting, graphic.com.gh reported.
According to the outlet, the trial judge, Yaw Opoku Acheampong said during his sentencing that he would have handed Abubakar a 20-year jail term but for his show of remorse throughout the trial.
The convict’s lawyer was reportedly not in court when the sentencing was handed. The court further ordered Abubakar to pay back the money.
In other news, actress Akuapem Poloo, also called Rosemond Brown, was found guilty by a court in Accra for publishing nude content on social media.
Poloo pleaded guilty to the charges after being slapped with three charges.
She was sentenced to three months in prison.
Meanwhile, actress Nana Ama McBrown stunned Ghanaians with a video speaking fluent Italian.
She was speaking in a conversation with rapper Pappy Kojo during an episode of her McBrown Kitchen show.
