Akoto Ampaw Remembered With One-Week Celebration, Funeral Slated For December 15-17

The funeral of the late lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw has been slated for December 15 to December 17, 2023.
His family announced the plans at the one-week celebration on Sunday, November 6, 2023, at his North Kaneshie residence in Accra.

Ampaw died on October 20, 2023, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre after an extended illness.
Members of the New Patriotic Party and other dignitaries graced the one-week celebration.
Ampaw was a human rights activist. Known as 'Che Che' right from his student days at the University of Ghana, Ampaw was part of the New Patriotic Party's legal team in the Electoral Petition of 2013.
He was a partner of Akufo-Addo's law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co.
Mepe queen mother defends Akufo-Addo's comment about votes
In a separate story, YEN.com.gh reported that the traditional authority in Mepe has dismissed suggestions that the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, misspoke when he said the people of the area don't vote for NPP.
Mamaga Adzo Srako IV, the queen mother of the town, was among the hardest hit by flooding due to spillage from the Akosombo Dam, said the president commented in jest.
She said the Akufo-Addo said other great things when he visited the town that have not been highlighted, blaming the media for their poor judgement.
