Nurses Accompany New Mum Writing BECE to the Centre for Monitoring
- A 17-year-old BECE candidate gave birth only two days before the start of the national exam and insisted on writing
- The Ogbojo Polyclinic, the facility where she delivered, arranged for nurses to accompany her to the centre each day
- Ghanaians on social media who watched the nurses share the young lady's story commented with their varied thoughts
Two nurses from the Ogbojo Polyclinic within the Adentan Municipality of the Greater Accra Region accompanied a new mum to her exam centre to sit for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Gloria and Janet, who are both health workers at the Ogbojo Polyclinic, were assigned to the new mum since she expressed a desire to write the BECE despite her condition.

According to Gloria, the 17-year-old gave birth on Saturday, May 3, 2026 and insisted on writing the BECE, which was only two days away.
"She's a 17-year-old girl who went through a caesarean section on Saturday (May 3, 2026), but she's a BECE candidate as well. She expressed interest in writing the exam. So our head of facility arranged so she could write."
"So we brought her and came along with her medications. So, once in a while we go in to see how she is doing, and so far so good, she's doing well."
Gloria added that they brought the baby to the exam centre as well. The baby girl is often kept in a car, which they use as a mode of transportation.
According to Gloria, to prevent such situations, they often encourage young people to abstain from affairs and focus on their studies.

"If she knew it was her future, she wouldn’t have gotten pregnant. Anyway, we commend the health professionals. I think it’s about time parents and guardians take their responsibilities seriously. It’s insane for a JHS student to be pregnant. If some guys are so stupid as to go for a girl child, it’s up to the parents and guardians to speak some sense by any means to their daughter to avoid the guys. 😡😡😡."

A little girl walked into the compound with the crying baby, then an invigilator took the baby to the mother.
