Adom TV's Okyeame Amoako Darkwa Dies, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, Others Mourn Him

Ghanaian media personality Okyeame Amoako Darkwa of Adom FM and Adom TV has passed away.

Reports indicate that the seasoned journalist died on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, after a tiresome health battle.
Amoako Darkwa has worn various hats in the journalism industry, from reporting to broadcasting across the country.
Many would recall his time on Adom TV's political and current affairs programme Badwam.
Amoako Darkwa was once a morning show host at Takoradi-based radio station, Kyzz FM and the Operations Manager at Good News FM. He also worked as the head of Programmes at Shaft FM in Obuasi.
In 2017, his efforts contributed to the arrest of nine illegal mining suspects, including five Chinese and four Ghanaians, in the Western region, as reported by Modern Ghana.
Amoako Darkwa was part of a combined security force which interrupted illegal mining activity in the Ankobrah River.
Kofi Adoma Nwanwani mourns Okyeame Amoako Darkwa
Renowned multimedia journalist Kofi Adoma Nwanwani has reacted to the death of Okyeame Amoako Darkwa.
On September 17, 2025, Kofi Adoma took to social media to express the hurt over his loss saying,
"Indeed this world is a stage where we come and play our part and leave after we are done. The news of your death has made me speechless. Rest well Okyeame Amoako Darkwa."
The late Amoako Darkwa appeared to be a personal friend to Kofi Adoma Nwanwani.
Several photos of them on the field working together many years ago have surfaced on social media.
Another colleague in the media, Saeed Hamid Jallo eulogised the late journalist saying,
"He was a morning show host whilst I acted as Programs Manager at Kyzz fm here in Takoradi. We actually worked together for a couple of years during which Okyeame Kwadwo Amoako-Darkwah exhibited a wonderful working relationship."

"He took our relationship higher and made it more personal. That relationship continued till today that I'm hearing of his demise."
"Okyeame may have his shortcomings, but believe me, he was such a wonderful, positive guy. Although I do not celebrate birthdays (and he knows) he will send me my birthday message from Adom TV every year."
Tributes pour in for Okyeame Kwadwo Amoako-Darkwah

"You are a pioneer in the Obuasi media space and you were incredible in your delivery. You genuinely paid your dues from SHAFT 98.1 FM to Takoradi and later Adom TV. Why leave so soon!"
Mubarak Yakubu reacted:
"Rest well, Okyea, as I normally called you. I usually write about people when they are alive, not when they are gone. I believe in celebrating people while they can see and read it for themselves. Rest well, DJ Amouz."

DJ Awana passes away after short illness
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that DJ Awana passed away while on admission at the 37 Military Hospital on April 6, 2025.
The disc jockey, who worked with the Multimedia Group, had been seeking treatment at the hospital after he fell ill.
Many Ghanaians, including DJ Awana's colleagues, took to social media to mourn his passing and comfort his loved ones.
