Former NFL star Orenthal James Simpson, popularly known as OJ Simpson, has died after a long battle with cancer.

OJ Simpson dies in US

The former American footballer, who was acquitted in the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, in 1995, succumbed to prostate cancer. He died at age 76.

OJ was sentenced to 33 years imprisonment on charges of armed robbery and was released in 2017.

The family announced his death in a statement

“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace," read the statement

OJ Simpson's daughter's death

Aaren Simpson was the last born of O.J. and Marguerite Whitley, his first wife. The two tied the knot on June 24, 1967. They were pretty young when they got married. Simpson was a 19-year-old student at the University of San Fransisco.

OJ Simpson's first wife was a homemaker. The couple got their first girl, Arnelle Simpson, in 1968, while their second-born son, Jason Simpson, was born in 1970. Their last-born daughter, Aaren, was born on September 24, 1977, in California, USA.

The relationship between OJ Simpson and Aaren Simpson was short-lived. The little, adorable girl had just begun to make her maiden steps when an unfortunate tragedy happened, which cost Aaren her life. T

Aaren's cause of death came as a shock to the family and the world. OJ's child drowned in the family swimming pool as she was taking a stroll around their home.

Her family found her shortly after, but she was unconscious. They immediately called the medical experts, who were able to revive her after performing CPR. Baby Aaren would then be rushed to the University of California Medical Centre (UCLA) in Los Angeles.

She lay in a coma for a few days at the facility and was put on life support. Sadly, the little angel passed away a few days later due to respiratory failure. Aaren's curtains fell on August 26th, 1979, just a few days before her second birthday.
