The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has released its afternoon weather forecast for Monday, August 24, 2026, outlining what Ghanaians across the country can expect as the day unfolds.

According to GMet, cloudy skies will be the dominant feature across most parts of Ghana throughout the afternoon, though brief spells of sunshine may break through at intervals.

Rain and thunderstorms expected in several zones

Residents along the coast and nearby inland areas, as well as parts of the middle sector, should prepare for slight to moderate rainfall during the afternoon.

Conditions are expected to be more intense further north, with thunderstorms and rain anticipated over parts of the transition and northern sectors.

GMet noted that these heavier weather conditions are likely to develop from late afternoon and continue into the evening hours.

Cool nights and calm seas ahead

Despite the unsettled daytime conditions in some areas, GMet indicated that temperatures will ease significantly by nightfall. Relatively cool conditions are forecast for the night and early morning hours across the country.

For those along Ghana's coastline or at sea, GMet confirmed that the state of the sea is calm, which is reassuring news for fishing communities and maritime activities.

Ghanaians are advised to stay updated with official GMet communications throughout the day, particularly those in the transition and northern sectors where weather conditions could deteriorate quickly from late afternoon onward.

ECG announces three-day power outages in Central, Volta

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the Electricity Company of Ghana had scheduled maintenance outages across parts of the Central and Volta Regions from Tuesday to Thursday.

ECG listed dozens of communities in the Central Region that were affected across all three days, with power cuts running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
