Christabel Turkson, a rotational nurse, passed away in a crash at Wakrom near Yamoransa on the Cape Coast-Accra Highway.

Turkson died in the same crash that killed another nurse, Abena Jennifer, who was headed to Accra to start her national service.

Addressing the tragedy, he said that the young nurse had left her base in Saltpond to Takoradi and was headed back when the crash occurred.

He expressed condolences to the family of the late nurse and prayed for God to welcome her soul into his arms.

“Christabel Turkson is a rotational nurse. She went to Takoradi and was headed back to Saltpond, where she is based, when she died in an accident. It is so sad, may God keep her in his bosom,” he said.

Abena Jen killed in Cape Coast crash

Christabel Turkson is the second victim of the September 15 Cape Coast crash who was also a nurse, according to reports.

TikToker Abena Jen, who had nearly 20,000 followers on the video-sharing platform, also passed away in the crash.

According to her friends, Jen was headed to Accra to prepare for her upcoming national service when she lost her life.

Originally from Kabenla Suazo in the Western Region, she was a trained midwife who graduated from the 37 Military Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC).

Details of accident that killed Christabel Turkson

The accident that claimed the lives of Christabel Turkson and Abena Jen occurred on Monday, September 15, 2025, when a DAF truck loaded with 700 bags of rice collided with a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle headed to Accra.

The crash led to twelve victims suffering varying degrees of injuries, with residents nearby rushing them to the Biriwa Polyclinic.

Five of the wounded died at the hospital, with one other passenger in critical condition. The driver and the conductor of the DAF truck were both unhurt.

Nursing student Colourwinner dies

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that a nursing student, Colourwinner, died a few days before her final licensure exams.

Known in private life as Sandra, the deceased content creator was a final-year student of the Presbyterian Nursing and Midwifery Training School, located at Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region.
