According to a report, the car used was a petrol-powered vehicle that was formerly part of the Vice Chancellor's official fleet.

The 14-member student team retrofitted the car by replacing its internal combustion engine with an electric motor.

They added a custom battery pack and re-engineered its control systems, preserving the original frame and structure, blending tradition with innovation.

The students had described the project as more than a class assignment but also a way to prove what Ghanaian youth can achieve when given the tools, mentorship, and freedom to innovate.
