Jerry Armah, who once captivated Ghanaians as part of the Kumasi High School team at the 2017 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), has earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Nursing Science from the University of Florida in the United States.

The news broke on Saturday, August 8, when the popular Facebook page Voice of KNUST shared photos of Armah at his graduation ceremony, showing him in full academic regalia with a stole bearing the words:
"DR. JERRY ARMAH / PHD NURSING SCIENCE 2026."
The post quickly drew attention from Ghanaians who remembered him from his quiz days.
Jerry Armah's journey from NSMQ to PhD
Armah first gained national recognition in 2017 when he was part of the Kumasi High School contingent that made a deep run at the prestigious NSMQ tournament. The team defeated Wesley Girls' High School and T.I. AMASS Fomena in the quarter-finals before bowing out in a competitive semi-final against St. Thomas Aquinas SHS and PRESEC Legon, finishing among the top four schools in the country that year.
From that platform, Armah went on to build an impressive academic career. His ORCID profile confirms he has been affiliated with the University of Florida's College of Nursing as a Graduate Research Assistant since August 2023. His ResearchGate profile lists 21 publications, over 4,400 reads, and 103 citations, pointing to a productive scholarly career alongside his doctoral studies.
