Eleven years ago, Antony Mwangi had an encounter with robbers that changed the course of his life forever, but lucky for him, he had a wife who have helped him weather the storm.
Mwangi, a then-driver who was in Malindi on the fateful night with two of his colleagues were attacked by gun-wielding thugs who threw them in Yala River.
Narrating the ordeal to Inooro TV, Mwangi said by the time he landed in the river, he did not feel his legs anymore but thankfully, he was still alive.
"They first rolled us, like you would a bag of potatoes and threw us across the water bridge to the river. I went more than 20 feet below the water surface and did not feel my legs anymore," he said.

The father of two was later rescued and he did not think he would make it to the hospital alive.
His wife's love and care
The first person she told about the accident was his wife Esther Nyawira who would become his heroine as he was dealing with the reality of never walking or doing anything by himself.
For the past 11 years, Mwangi's wife bathes him, helps him with his nature calls, does casual jobs to provide for the family and other things to ensure their family is up and running.
"For me, I am just happy that I get to see him every day, because if he died, my children would be fatherless. I am always thankful to God that he is here," she said adding that love is about caring about the other person despite their condition.
Before leaving for work each morning at a local factory, she first ensures her husband has everything he needs.
The best part is through her hard work, the family will soon build their house.
"I always find strength in such things. For instance, before the accident, I did not know how to pay rent for this house but I had to," the mother of two said.
Man appreciates second wife
In a separate report, a Dagoretti man also appreciated his second wife who accepted him and his special needs daughter, especially at a time when he needed someone to help take care of her with love.
Before meeting her, Kamau was in so much distress since every nanny he hired to take care of his special needs daughter maltreated her.
He said Mary accepted him and his daughter Faith and she even quit her job so that she could devote her entire time to taking care of her.
