Catholic Priest Dies in Hotel After Spending The Night with Pretty Girlfriend: "He Was Such A Good Preacher"

Murang'a - A Catholic priest in charge of St. Peters Ruai has died after he checked in at a hotel where he was accompanied by a woman detectives have described as his girlfriend.

The priest, who has since been identified as Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, aged 43, was pronounced dead on Saturday, July 8, after his girlfriend rushed him to the hospital with hotel workers.

A police report indicates that the two checked into Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga on the evening of Friday, but he started feeling unwell on the morning of Saturday, July 8.

"Then, this morning (Saturday) at around 0800hrs, the priest's girlfriend notified the hotel management that the boyfriend was dizzy and getting unconscious so that they could rush him to the hospital. They then rushed him to Kenol hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival," the police report indicated in part.

Father Joseph Kariuki was pronounced dead

The Catholic Father was pronounced dead while still in his car, which had been used to take him to the hospital.

Police officers who were called found the body in the car's back seat half covered with the hotel bedsheet and white foam oozing from the mouth and nose.

"The body moved to mater hospital mortuary Nairobi under the escort of police officer pending autopsy and further police action," the police report indicated.

The foods and drinks that the duo took on their fun night have been taken for further analysis as investigations continue, Taifa Leo reported.

Kenyans mourn the fallen Father

After the news of his puzzling death broke, a section of Kenyans took to social media the Catholic priest, with many saying they could not judge him.

Tina Kaloki said: "Condolences to his family and the church. Rest in peace, priest."
Faith K Mwania said: "He was such a good preacher; he used to visit our church in Donholm."
