Manchester United looks poised to smash a transfer record, with an exit for Mason Greenwood on the horizon.
The young forward is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, after the club's hierarchy decided his future lies away from the club.
The Manchester United academy graduate spent the previous season on loan at La Liga club Getafe, where he recorded 10 goals and six assists, according to data courtesy of Fotmob.
But all signs point towards him plying his trade in the French League at the start of the new season.
Greenwood to play in the French League?
According to a report from The Athletic, Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille have reached an agreement in principle with Greenwood ahead of an imminent move.
The report specifies that the transfer is estimated to cost around €27.6 million, with additional add-ons expected to push the total to approximately €31.6mil.
Upon completion of this transfer, it will surpass Manchester United's club record for the largest sale since the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Currently, the record is held by Dean Henderson's transfer to Crystal Palace for a fee in the region of €23m in the summer of 2023.
However, Henderson's dream move has not gone as planned, as he has only managed to feature 20 times for the London club due to an injury that disrupted his campaign.
