Kwasi Sibo is on the verge of joining Libyan champions Al-Swehly, with the Ghana international having already arrived in Cairo to begin preparations for completing the transfer.

Kwasi Sibo set to join Al-Swehly

African football expert Micky Jnr. confirmed that Sibo is scheduled to undergo his medical on 24 August before the deal is finalised.

Al-Swehly, who clinched the Libyan league title last season, will feature in the CAF Champions League preliminary round and are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of that continental campaign.

According to Ghanasoccernet, Al-Swehly are tabling a financial package worth approximately $10 million across two years.

Should the move go through, the figure would place Sibo among the highest-earning Ghanaian footballers currently playing the game.

Why Sibo is joining Al-Swehly

Sources close to the player indicate that his family are actively encouraging him to accept the offer, citing the life-changing sums on the table.

Sibo's contract with Spanish La Liga side Real Oviedo expired at the end of last season, during which he made 26 appearances for the club, per data culled from Transfermarkt.

The midfielder confirmed he had received interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and England before his options were narrowed down.

Turkish side Gençlerbirliği came closest to signing him, but those negotiations ultimately broke down, leaving him free to weigh his alternatives.

The midfielder was part of Ghana's 26-man squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in all four of the Black Stars' matches at the tournament.

The experience added further to his profile as one of the more consistent performers in the Ghanaian setup.

A product of Cheetah FC, Sibo's potential move to North Africa has raised questions in some quarters, given the clubs that had shown interest.

In a related publication, YEN.com.gh reported that Thomas Partey has completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab as a free agent.

The 33-year-old midfielder joins after his one-year contract with Villarreal expired this summer.
