Canada has released a list of 26 priority occupations under its Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP), a federal economic immigration scheme designed to draw skilled workers to rural and remote parts of the country.

The programme offers a pathway to permanent residence for eligible applicants who are prepared to live and work long-term in participating rural communities.

The newly published priority occupation list gives prospective applicants a clearer sense of which roles are in highest demand under the scheme.

Which occupations made Canada's RCIP's priority list

The 26 roles span a wide range of sectors, from healthcare and technology to skilled trades and logistics.

Professionals in demand include Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Dental Assistants, Pharmacy Assistants, Nurse Aides, Home Support Workers and Caregivers, Social and Community Service Workers, and Early Childhood Educators.

The technology and engineering sectors also feature prominently, with positions for Software Developers and Programmers, Civil Engineers, Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and Computer Network and Web Technicians listed among the priorities.

Financial professionals are equally represented, including Financial Auditors and Accountants, Financial Advisors, and Accounting Technicians and Bookkeepers.

The trades category covers a broad sweep of roles: Electricians, Plumbers, Welders, Machinists, Automotive Service Technicians, Aircraft Mechanics, Construction Millwrights, and Industrial Mechanics.

Rounding out the list are Construction Trade Helpers and Labourers, Shippers and Receivers, and Production Line Workers.

How to qualify for Canada's RCIP

To be considered under the RCIP, an applicant must secure a valid job offer in one of the eligible occupations from an employer located in a participating rural community.
