Sarah and Jimmy have had their fair share of what it means to date fellow comedians. While they were together, their relationship was filled with love and laughter. Although where they claim they met disagrees, the few years they spent together as lovers have some interesting memories neither of them wishes to let go so soon.

Who is Sarah Silverman?

Sarah is an American stand-up comedian, actress, singer, and writer. She uses her comedy career to address social taboos and controversial issues, including racism, politics, sexism, homophobia, and religion.

She was born in Bedford, New Hampshire, to Beth Ann and Donald Silverman, but raised in Manchester, New Hampshire. In 1992, Sarah started her stand-up career and joined the 1993/94 season of Saturday Night Live (SNL) for 18 weeks as a writer and featured player. Since she joined the entertainment industry, she has won two Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Primetime Emmy Award winner is not married yet, which is why it is hard to say who Sarah Silverman's husband is. However, she has dated a few men in her life.

Who is Jimmy Kimmel?

Fully known as James Christian Kimmel, Kimmel is also an American television host, comedian, writer, and producer. He was born on the 13th of November, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, but grew up in Mill Basin's neighbourhood. His parents are James John and Joan Iacono.

Jimmy hosts and executively produces a late-night talk show known as Jimmy Kimmel Live! The show premiered on ABC on the 26th of January, 2003, at Hollywood Masonic Temple in Hollywood, California.

As a notable host with a unique presentation style, Kimmel has hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards thrice: 2012, 2016 and 2020. Also, in 2017 and 2018, he hosted the Academy Awards.

Romantic relationship between the comedy stars

Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel first met at the Hugh Hefner Friars Club Roast in 2001, although Kimmel said that they met at a party years before. Nevertheless, before they started dating, Kimmel was married to Gina Maddy from 1988 to 2002, and their union was blessed with two children.

Kimmel and Gina divorced in 2002 before he dated comedian Sarah Silverman the same year until they split in early 2009. While they were together, Sarah appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! There was a time that Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon, Kimmel's "nemesis," had a long-running joke.

Not much is known about the cause of the end to the love stories between Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman. Since their love affair started, they split twice. They reconciled the first time, but after their separation the second time, they have maintained their friendship, even though Jimmy admitted that it was not easy to keep the friendship.

In his words, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Kimmel admitted that:

I would say that it took some time, definitely. It definitely took some time. It was never like where we didn’t like each other, hated each other or anything like that. But it definitely took some time to be comfortable enough to be friends again.

Interestingly, comedian Sarah once jokingly aired her desire to have Jimmy back in her life when she appeared on his talk show. While talking about her love life, she said she looked forward to seeing him available again. In her words, she teased:

During Sarah's appearance on Jimmy’s shows, he showed the picture of what Sarah sketched while she was seriously down and hospitalized in a battle against epiglottis. This was a familiar routine during their love stint, and Sarah took her pound of flesh when she claimed to have been unfairly treated since she dated the fatter version of Jimmy.

Life apart

While Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel still maintain their friendship bond after they called it quits, each of them has moved on with their love life. Between 2014 and 2018, Silverman dated actor Michael Sheen. On why Sarah Silverman's partner divorced her, she said it was because of distance. According to her, Sheen prefers to live in the UK, while she wants to stay in the US.

In 2016, two years before she broke with Silverman, Sarah narrowly escaped death after a frightening medical scare. She was in the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after she contracted epiglottitis, and after the surgery, sleeping for the recovery process became challenging because of low blood pressure.

On the other hand, Jimmy dated Molly McNearney, a co-head writer for Jimmy Kimmel Live, before they engaged in August 2012 and married in July 2013. Since then, their union has been blessed with two kids. Their first child, Jane, came in July 2014, and their second child, William, was born on the 21st of April, 2017.

Although Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel are not in any love relationship again, their bond of friendship remains intact. Recently, Silverman poked fun at her ex-boyfriend and Jimmy Kimmel's wife during a Golden Globes event, taking a selfie with the couple.
