2023 Ghana Club 100: Newmont Adjudged Best Company In Ghana As Top 10 List Emerges

Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd (Ahafo South Mine) emerged as the best in the country at the 20th edition of the Ghana Club 100 event after beating 99 other companies.
The company secured the first position over Zeepay, a financial technology firm that took first place in the 19th edition of the awards. Zeepay came 13th this time.
Ghana Club 100, a prestigious event organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), had Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in attendance at this year's programme.
The vice-president presented a Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd team with the 2023 prize. Scancom Plc Ghana, the operator of MTN Ghana and Amanex Company Limited, secured the second and third positions, respectively.

Ghanaian Charity Akortia named Overall Best Farmer
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh reported that Charity Akortia, a woman from Agona West District in Ghana's Central Region, emerged as the National Best Farmer during the 2023 National Farmers' Day celebration.
The 57-year-old farmer was crowned at this year's event in Tarkwa in the Western Region on Friday, December 1. She received GH¢1 million and other prizes.
Prizes were also awarded to the first runner-up, Theophilus Ezenrane Ackah, 46, of Jomoro in the Western Region, and the second runner-up, Kwaku Yeboah Asiamah, 58, of Bono East Region.
Ghanaian farmer weeps
Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that 67-year-old Nana Kwasi Poku, a cocoa farmer in Ghana who has been farming for close to 40 years, narrated how he has lived in abject poverty nearly all his life despite being hardworking.
In an interview with TV3 Ghana, the farmer, whose passionate oration drove some to tears, she mentioned that he wishes to sell out his farmland to be used for mining because of his low earnings.
