The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is yet to come to terms with the sudden demise of one of its lecturers.

News of Dr Mac Junior Abeka's passing was posted on the university's alumni X account on September 19, 2025.

Although details of his demise remain sketchy, the post indicated the young lecturer, who taught at the UCC School of Business, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2025.

The post eulogised the late lecturer, expressing deep condolences to the grieving family.

"Sad news from UCC. Yesterday, we lost Dr Mac Junior Abeka, a lecturer at the School of Business. He wasn’t just a teacher; he was a mentor, motivator, and a true inspiration to many of us. His sudden passing is a big blow to the UCC family and everyone who knew him. RIP," the post read.

A TikTok user known as @obaapa.afia1 also, in a post on September 28, 2025, eulogised the late Dr Mac Junior Abeka.

She said the lecturer died a few days before his first wedding anniversary, which would have fallen on September 28, 2025.

At the time of writing, the trending video, which had generated over 4,700 likes and 200 comments, was captioned:

"How can a first anniversary turn to RIP, Dr Mac, 28 September 2025," her caption read.

Netizens react to UCC lecturer's demise

Ghanaians who reacted to the post announcing Dr Abeka's death were heartbroken. Many in the comments section expressed their condolences.

The Akosua Edits stated:

"Yesterday marked my one year, regardless of what I’m going through I will only have to be grateful for being alive. This is so sad to watch."

INÈS reacted:

WAEC worker dies while arguing with a parent

Earlier, YEN.com.gh also previously reported that the employees of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) were left devastated over the death of a colleague.

It all happened after Mr Joseph Agyeman collapsed and died during a tense confrontation with parents over withheld WASSCE results at the WAEC office in Sekondi.
