A rainbow appeared over Kumasi during a thanksgiving service held in memory of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Church, sending members of the congregation into visible excitement.

The moment was captured on video and shared on X on August 8, 2026, by popular Ghanaian blogger Sika Osei, whose post quickly caught the attention of thousands online.

The footage, credited to Daily Watch Worldwide, showed the vivid arc of colour forming over the city as worshippers gathered to honour the memory of their beloved founder.

For members of the Kristo Asafo Church, the appearance of the rainbow was not simply a meteorological event.

The timing, arriving at such a charged and emotional gathering, clearly struck a deep chord among the faithful, many of whom interpreted it as something far more significant.

The church, widely associated with the Kantanka brand of locally manufactured vehicles and other innovations, was founded by Apostle Kwadwo Safo, whose legacy remains a towering presence in Ghanaian religious and entrepreneurial circles.

Adwoa Safo arrives at Kantanka's thanksgiving service

Former Dome Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo stepped out in style as she attended her late dad Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka's funeral in the Asanti Region.

The female lawyer and celebrity mom wore a custom-made black and white ensemble to the event at the Prempeh Assembly hall.

Who was Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka?

Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was one of Ghana’s most distinctive personalities, known for bringing together his Christian faith, passion for technology and strong belief in African self-reliance.

Born on August 26, 1948, in the Ashanti Region, he developed an interest in science and technology from a young age. He later trained in engineering and worked as a welder before dedicating himself to his religious calling and inventive work.

In 1971, Apostle Safo established the Kristo Asafo Mission, which grew from an earlier prayer group. The church became known not only for its religious activities but also for its involvement in agriculture, manufacturing, skills training and philanthropy.

His name became even more widely recognised through Kantanka Automobile, which he founded in 1994. The company went on to produce vehicles in Ghana, reflecting his long-standing ambition to encourage local manufacturing and technological development.

Beyond his work as a pastor and entrepreneur, Apostle Safo was remembered by many as an inspirational figure who encouraged Ghanaians to believe in their own abilities and create solutions locally.

He died on September 11, 2025, at the age of 77. His death was widely mourned, with tributes highlighting his contributions to religion, technology, industry and philanthropy.

Adwoa Safo accused of withholding father's body
