According to Facebook post by Offei Wonuanie, a Freedom Radio presenter and media insider, officers picked up Bosiako mid-broadcast at the Almighty 103.7 FM studios. He was subsequently taken to Kwesimintim Police Station, where he remains in custody.
The items at the centre of the allegations include an Oxygen 4 Console, a 5K transmitter, and a 4-bay antenna, all reportedly belonging to Western FM, a station under ABN Ghana's portfolio. ABN, the Angel Broadcasting Network, is owned by prominent Ghanaian businessman Dr Kwaku Oteng and operates several well-known stations including Angel FM and Pure FM.
Bosiako previously served as General Manager of Western 100.9 FM before moving on to host at Almighty 103.7 FM.
Background to the Bosiako and ABN Ghana dispute
Reaction in the comments section appeared to shed further light on the possible history between the two parties.
Netizen Barimah Israel Owusu Fordah offered a detailed account, suggesting the situation is far more complex than a straightforward theft allegation.
"I think this case has been a bone of contention between him and ABN. He began his own Radio station at Anaji Ahantaman Bank building (Western FM). He later had a partnership agreement with ABN to expand due to financial constraints. They offered to provide the equipments mentioned above as their part of the deal. Later, ownership became the apple of discord between the parties. Tensions about ownership heightened continually till deadlock. This is more of a litigation rather than stealing. My Opinion Both parties must respect the underlying agreement and come to a constructive conclusion. Nana Antwi Bosiako must settle any differences with ABN.... especially Patrick. Thank you!" he wrote.
