The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in Ghana, led by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, recently visited the headquarters of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, D.C.

The visit aimed to acquire valuable insights and best practices to enhance the OSP's efforts in combating corruption within Ghana.

During the visit, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng engaged in productive meetings with key officials, including the Acting Director of the International Operations Division at the FBI.

The primary objective was to gain a deeper understanding of the FBI's organisational structure, operational strategies, and best practices, fostering collaboration and capacity-building opportunities.

The Special Prosecutor had discussions with Jason Beachy, the Acting Assistant Director of the International Operations Division at the FBI, along with various unit chiefs.

Additionally, the visit provided an opportunity for the Special Prosecutor to meet with high-ranking officials at the Department of Justice, including Assistant Attorney General Arun G. Rao and Deputy Director of the Consumer Protection Branch, Richard Goldberg.

This exchange of knowledge and experiences is expected to further strengthen the fight against corruption in Ghana.

The purpose of the OSP's visit to the FBI was to gain insights into their organisational structure, operations, and best practices, and enhance collaboration and capacity building," the OSP posted on X along with photos of the visit.

Last year, Kissi Agyebeng grabbed headlines after questioning the Akufo-Addo government’s commitment to fighting corruption.

He stated that there’s not much support in rooting out the menace.

He also served notice that those involved in the practice would be soon, rather than later, found out and dealt with accordingly.
