EU countries are expected to confirm Friday hefty tariffs on electric cars made in China, a move dividing the bloc as some states led by Germany fear sparking a trade war with Beijing. The bloc faces a difficult task as it tries to foster its clean tech industry and invest in the green transition without sparking a painful trade war with China.

Dockworkers at the port in Montreal, the second-largest in Canada, ended a partial three-day strike as scheduled on Thursday, officials confirmed, with both sides summoned to mediation. "The three-day strike is over," Isabelle Pelletier, spokeswoman for the Maritime Employers Association, told AFP. A federal mediator has summoned both sides to a meeting on Friday.

Three more women have come forward with sexual assault accusations against Frank Stronach, the founder of Magna International, one of the world's largest auto parts companies, court records showed Thursday. Stronach, an Austrian-born rags-to-riches immigrant, grew a small Canadian tool and die company into one of the world's largest automotive parts manufacturers, Magna International.
