After the termination of his career as a football player, Dwayne decided to pursue professional wrestling. Pat Patterson got Dwayne to different tryout matches. He defeated The Brooklyn Brawler in one game and lost to Owen Hart and Chris Candido.
At one point, he won the USWA World Tag Team Championship. Dwayne signed a contract with WWF and got additional training in wrestling, from Tom Prichard. Later on, he took part in different wrestling matches.
