Akwaboah To Bounce Songwriting Requests From Political Parties: “I Can’t”

Highlife musician Akwaboah has said he is willing to perform for political parties but will not compose music for them.

He said he prefers to write music that benefits Ghana as a whole. Political parties have been known to leverage entertainers' talents during election campaigns.

“If you call me to perform, I would, but if it is to compose a song, no, I can’t. I would rather compose for Ghana as a whole.”

He explained that composing a song for a political party could negatively affect him, especially if the party loses.

Ghana Weekend reported that he believed it would be more beneficial to compose a song geared toward the development of the whole nation.

“If I do a song for Ghana and the country progresses, it would benefit all of us, but if I compose a song for a single political party and it doesn’t work out, it would affect me negatively,” he explained.

Nacee expresses confidence in Mahama

Gospel musician Nacee believes National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama will fulfil all his campaign promises if elected president in 2024.

Nacee said his confidence comes from Mahama's previous administration as president, where he achieved a lot.

Nacee expressed this view during the NDC's 2024 manifesto launch, where he also performed. He had been working on a campaign song for the NDC ahead of the 2024 election.

Kofi Kinaata recounts the impact of Otumfuo's cosign

YEN.com.gh reported that Ghanaian singer Kofi Kinaata recently earned a shout-out from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Asantehene referenced Kinaata's Susuka song in a speech as he addressed Ghanaians at a high-profile event.

The singer says the king's cosign and his few seconds of royal fame have significantly impacted him.
