Kaly Kaly's voicenote scandal explained
The drama began when fellow TikToker Jilani Apparel publicly alleged that Kaly Kaly had collected GH₵1,000 cedis from her to create a birthday video for a friend but never delivered the content.
Rather than handle the complaint quietly, Kaly Kaly reportedly sent her a voicenote laced with insults and curses, accusing her of attempting to destroy his reputation.
The recording spread rapidly online, triggering heavy backlash from Ghanaians, who felt the reaction was inexcusable, particularly from someone whose rise to fame was built largely on public goodwill.
His initial response to the controversy was defiant, but sustained public pressure appears to have changed his position.
The statement from Kaly Kaly Management acknowledged the inappropriate language used in the voicenote, describing it as a reaction made in a moment of frustration. It confirmed that the customer issue had since been resolved privately and that a full refund had been issued. Going forward, the statement said all bookings and inquiries would be handled by a dedicated management team.
Fans question sincerity of Kaly Kaly's apology
Despite the gesture, the apology landed poorly with a significant portion of his audience. Many questioned whether the statement reflected genuine remorse, with some also taking issue with the background audio, which contained one of Kaly Kaly's jingles in which he said everyone makes mistakes and that whoever is perfect should 'raise their hand'.

"You are apologising, so why is this sound necessary? It completely undermined the apology and made it seem insincere. At this point, both you and your management appear to be sending mixed messages."
