Ohemaa Mercy Gets KOKA Arrested Over Alleged Threats Against Gospel Singer

Ghanaian entertainment personality Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, better known as KOKA, has reportedly been arrested.

According to reports, the pundit and event organiser was detained for alleged threats against gospel star Ohemaa Mercy.

Before the arrest, the pundit had called out Ohemaa Mercy in a series of rants on social media, calling her a 'fake woman of God'.

KOKA, the singer's former road manager, then posted on X to accuse entertainment journalist Becky of Joy News of 'setting him up'.

Ohemaa Mercy claims responsibility for KOKA's arrest

However, Ohemaa Mercy and her team have since released a statement on Instagram to take responsibility for KOKA's arrest.

The pundit, who recently blasted King Paluta for his 'poor' singing abilities, was alleged to have threatened the singer's life.

“The team and its lawyers take full responsibility for reporting the threats made against the life of the artiste Ohemaa Mercy, which led to the arrest,” the statement said.

The statement also clarified that Joy News presenter Becky had not been involved in the arrest despite KOKA's claim online.

"We want to categorically state that Becky of JoyNews had no involvement whatsoever in this matter, nor was she responsible for the arrest of KOKA, as some have speculated."

"We extend our sincerest apologies to Becky for being unfairly drawn into this situation, despite her complete lack of knowledge or involvement."

KOKA should be careful

Following the clarification from Ohemaa Mercy's camp, music journalist Gabriel Myers Hansen has advised KOKA to be careful with his utterances in the future.

Speaking to YEN.com.gh, Myers Hansen noted that although KOKA might have only boasted with his threats, Ohemaa Mercy's team acted right.

Referencing their past working relationship, the Music In Africa editor wished the two settle their differences amicably without any more controversy.

"I know KOKA used to work as a marketer or something like for Ohemaa Mercy and I would have wished things to end differently. But looking at the claims of threat, one cannot take it lightly. For Ohemaa, I would only advise that they team considers her circumstances as a gospel and not make her come out as a bad person and for KOKA, he should act with caution going forward," Myers added.
