A vintage piece of Ghana's musical history has emerged from the archives, bringing nostalgia about the late Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025.
The piece, a 30-year-old video featuring Daddy Lumba and another celebrated musical icon, Kojo Antwi, in a rare live performance, resurfaced online on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Shared by TikTok account, @oheneno, the video was reportedly recorded at the Brixton Academy in London in 1995. It showcases Kojo Antwi delivering a rendition of his timeless classic Bo Me Nkomo to the charged audience.
Interestingly, Daddy Lumba, who was also on the bill to perform, joined Kojo Antwi on stage during the latter's performance. Lumba seamlessly transitioned into a supporting role, serving as both backing vocalist and a hype man.
The 1995 performance occurred during what many consider the golden age of Ghanaian popular music, when artists like Kojo Antwi and Daddy Lumba were highly sought after. Both artistes had established themselves as household names across the diaspora.

Kojo Antwi and Daddy Lumba's relationship
For years, Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi had been pitched as rivals in the media, with constant debates about their talents.
What many might not have known is the fact that they shared a bond built on mutual respect, as shown in their performance together in 1995.
In fact, Kojo Antwi was one of the first prominent individuals to visit Daddy Lumba's East Legon house after news of his passing was confirmed.

During his visit with his wife, Rocklyn, Kojo Antwi eulogised Daddy Lumba, describing him as a brother.

Akufo-Addo donates GH¢100k at Daddy Lumba's one-week
Meanwhile, the one-week observance of Daddy Lumba has been with several NPP bigwigs in attendance.
The top politicians who attended made substantial donations to the family to cover the costs of the funeral, which will be held in Kumasi. Former President Nana Akufo-Addo led the charge with a GH¢100,000 donation.
