Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is a Ghanaian main exam that gives qualifications for candidates studying in approved schools to get admissions to join vocational, Technical Institutes and secondary schools. Ministry of Education, which is under the Ghana Education Service, organizes the BECE. The Ghanaian candidates get to do this special exam after completion of 3 years of their junior High School Education.
When is BECE Done?
Qualified Ghanaian candidates do the BECE annually in June. This main exam is required to last for only one week, unless occurrence of cancellation/postponements.
Subjects that the Candidates Take
Here is a list of the subjects that the Ghanaian candidates take in their main exam (BECE) to determine their qualification and entry to vocational Institutes, secondary school, and Technical Institutes. They include:
- Information Communication and Technology ( I.C.T)
- Social studies
- Ghanaian Language
- Religious and Moral Education (R.M.E)
- Integrated Science
- English Language Arts
- Basic Design and Technology (B.D.T)

Registration of Approved Schools
The Ghana Education Service approved schools for the BECE embark on registering their students on October. The registration is supposed to end in early November. The schools submit their entries together with choice files via uploading to be processed.
BECE Placement 2020
Ghanaian candidate’s performance in the BECE will determine if they qualify to join senior High School, vocational schools, and Technical Institute. The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is used by the Ministry of Education in Ghana to selected the candidates fairy according to their grades.
BECE Placement Results
When the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is done with the candidate placement. The Ministry Education that is under Ghana Education Service do the releasing of the placement results.
BECE Placement Checker
Thanks to the advanced technology in that, it is now possible to check the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) using your mobile phones. Others may also so prefer to send the text via the CSSPC online portal. If you are among the candidates, all you have to do is to send a non-spaced text to 1060.
How do you send the text via the Mobile Phone?
The text should only have your index number and completion year to 1060. Keep in mind that you can use any network to send the text. For example, if you completed your BECE in 2017 and your index number is 10725899922, text 1072589992217 to 1060 code. Wait eagerly with lots of positivity for your results.
How to send the Text Online Portal
All you have to do is visit the Computerized School Selection and Placement (CSSPS) online portal. the online portal is http://myjhsresult.net/jhs/ and enter your index number combined with the year of completion as shown above. Keep in mind that you need that Card Serial Number on your scratch card. Hope you remember your pin, enter the pin. Then submit and wait for you results positively.
BECE Placement Form
The candidates are expected to check where the CSSPS placed them. The candidate should print and fill her or his WAEC BECE Placement Form carefully and keenly and also remember to attach the passport required. The filled form is then sent their placement forms to the schools they qualified.
What if the Candidate did not qualify?
The candidates are given 4 choices of the schools they would like to join. What if they don’t qualify in any of their dream choice school? Well, the candidate will have to find self-placement in schools that have vacancies. This means that the candidates need to fully prepare for the BECE to be placed by the CPPPS instead of finding placement themselves.
