Lita biography

Lita, one of the greatest female superstars to ever step foot inside a WWE ring, was born on April 14, 1975, at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States. This makes her 45 years old in 2021 and will turn 46 in April. Her father is Mike Dumas, and she has a brother called Billy Dumas.

Lita's real name is Amy Christine Dumas, which many people are not aware of considering her decorated wrestling career that made her WWE nickname stick. She attended different learning institutions when she was young. Lita completed her high school six months before graduation at Lassiter High School located near Atlanta.

Later, she attended Georgia State University but dropped in 1993 as she felt that it was too much like high school. She moved to Washington D.C where she played bass guitar in several bands. Lita worked as a roadie for a band for five years. She later started taking judo classes that got her interested in professional wrestling.

Lita from WWE developed a great interest in wrestling after watching Rey Mysterio Jr wrestle on World Championship Wrestling. Her interest in the sport saw her travel to Mexico in 1998 to learn more and join the wrestling world.

Lita worked at a club to finance her training and learn wrestling technique to elevate her standards. She danced to make ends meet under the pseudonym Misty. She was trained by other wrestlers including El Dandy, Kevin Quinn and Ricky Santana.

Lita made numerous appearances with the Consejo Mundial de la Lucha Libre after learning various wrestling tactics. Later, she returned to the United States of America to work as a valet on the independent circuit.

Amy Dumas took part in Maryland Championship Wrestling whereby she took the name, Angelica. Later, she made appearances at the NWA Mid-Atlantic where she met Matt and Jeff Hardy that offered to train her. And that was the beginning of her lustrous career in the wrestling industry.

Extreme Championship Wrestling

Duma debuted in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) on April 1999 as Miss Congeniality. She played the on-screen girlfriend of Danny Doring. Lita from WWE later reverted to the name Angelica and made her pay-per-view debut on July 18, the same year at Heat Wave.

Lita later attended Rob Van Dam and Funk's wrestling school with 23 individuals interested in wrestling like her. She graduated from the institution in August 1999 and went back to the WWE.

One of the wrestling school owners, Funk, complied a video showing Lita's impressive skills and sent it to the WWF. The Federation liked her skills and signed her on November 1, 1999.

After signing to WWF’s development deal, Amy was paired with Luchador Essa Rios and given the name Lita that fans identify with until today. She made her debut on February 13, 2000, for an episode of Sunday Night Heal.

After feuding with her partner, Luchador Essa Rios and subsequent separation, Lita teamed up with Matt and Jeff Hardy creating Team Xtreme. This made her participate in some high profile matches and get physically involved in tables, ladders, and chairs match that was unheard of for women in the WWE universe.

Lita took part in numerous WWE competitions that made her a hero and a villain. She announced her retirement in November 2006 informing fans that her match at Survivor Series would be her last.

She returned to the ring in 2007, debuting for the United Wrestling Federation (UWF) as a special guest referee for a match between Christy Hemme and April Hunter. Although retired, Amy randomly returned to the ring and even defeated Heath Slater in a no disqualification match on Raw's 1000th episode.

Duma has dated various WWE superstars over the years. She was romantically involved with Matt Hardy from 1999 – 2005 who she met in January 1999 during an NWA Mid Atlantic.

Edge, real name Adam Copeland dated Lita from 2005 to November 2006. This means that they are not together anymore. Another person in Lita’s life is Shane Morton that she dated from 2006 to 2008. They formed a band together called The Luchagors.
