Afia Pokua has cried out for strength after representatives of the Asantehene rejected her apology to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The media personality had made a controversial comment about the king during Mona Gucci's show on Onua TV.

Appearing as a panellist, Afia Pokua had criticised the Asantehene over his stance on 'galamsey' and other issues.

Afia Pokua's apology to Otumfuo rejected

Her criticism of Otumfuo triggered an angry response from the Asantes and many other Ghanaians, who deemed it disrespectful.

Afia Pokua later released a statement apologising for her conduct but was still summoned to face a panel at Manhyia Palace.

After hours of pleading, including kneeling in prostration, Otumfuo's representative rejected Mona Gucci and Afia Pokua's apology.

Their apology was deemed insufficient, despite the intervention of an elder who said that Pokua had seemed particularly heartfelt.

Afia Pokua speaks after apology is rejected

Following her apology being rejected, Afia Pokua shared a photo of herself kneeling before the panel and used an emotional caption to describe her state of mind.

"In everything, I thank the Lord God almighty. The king of kings, the Lord of Lords. Maker of the universe, hear my cry and comfort me. In my darkest days, strengthen me and guide my steps. Because in you alone I can trust."

Asanteman youth condemns disrespect towards Otumfuo

YEN.com.gh also reported that the Asanteman Youth For Culture and Development had warned detractors to stop targeting the Asantehene.

At a press conference in Kumasi on September 20, 2024, the group stated they would no longer tolerate any disrespect towards the Otumfuo.

In the future, the Asanteman said they would take drastic action against any group or individual who dared to disrespect the Asante King.
